KIDS
My father was a business owner when I was growing up (elementary - high school). His trade was furniture refinishing and restoration. When I wasn't in school or playing sports, I would jump in the truck and head to the shop with him. I loved going to work with my dad, and it was during this season of my life God Holy Spirit gave me the desire to own my own company one day. Philippians 2:13
OK, I hope it's evident that Jesus Christ's CEOs is not for kids. My heart's desire is that every Christian business owner (mom or dad) will take their kids to work so that they may learn from them how to participate in the abiding presence of Jesus Christ through communion with God Holy Spirit. And if one day, Holy Spirit calls them to business ownership as He has done with us. May the Lord's will be done.
YOUNG ADULTS
When it was time for my oldest son to get his first job while still in high school, he knew he did not want a job that was typical in my days, 8 to 5 in person at a business location. This led him to be self-employed, editing his customers' videos in his bedroom on his own time. After high school and while attending college, he launched his own company.
With great conviction, I can tell you outside JC CEOs Bible Institute, no one biblically equips young adults on how to start, build, and operate an authentic kingdom company in participation with God Holy Spirit governance. The local church and Christian higher education institutions do not equip young adults for their holy calling of overseeing and building profitable businesses with the preeminence of Jesus Christ ruling their companies. Colossians 1:15–18
Oh, what happened to my son? Right after high school, he launched a professional cinematography business. Jesus blessed his business beyond measure. He left college his junior year and married his high school sweetheart, filmed many of Hollywood's famous people's weddings, and traveled internationally to some of the most prestigious destinations on the globe.
WOMEN
My mom, a fantastic cook, made homemade beef jerky for dad. The Christian sandpaper salesman who called on my dad started selling mom's beef jerky to his other clients to supplement his income. Mom was making this man of God 700 pounds a week with 25 dehydrator's in our garage. This is how Holy Spirit led mom and dad to start what became an award-winning multi-million dollar gourmet beef jerky business.
Mom enjoyed cooking for dad, however, she never had any intention, vision, desire, or training to own a company. Yet, Jesus Christ compelled her, gifted her and grew the business to become one of the top 50 women own companies in the United States.
MEN
At the third-grade lunch tables, kids were trading apples for oranges. While they were trading one food item for another, I was selling my mom's chocolate chip cookies for a quarter. This was the first sign that I would become mom's business partner in the company her and dad named and dedicated to Jesus Christ based on 1 Timothy 6:17–18.
When I was a senior in high school, I was consumed with a passion for owning my own company. The desire Holy Spirit put in me while working with my dad as a child. I did not like school and forwent college. Teresa and I were married the following year after high school. Shortly after that, we had our first of three children, and at 21, I became the President/CEO and a 33% stockholder of Enjoy Foods International, the startup company Jesus gave Mom and Dad three years before.
